Join us on YouTube every Friday at 8pm Central for a live virtual planetarium and astronomy-themed show! Adam McCulloch, planetarium specialist at GLAS, and Katya Gozman, recent UChicago Astrophysics grad, talk about galaxies, Yerkes history, backyard astronomy, and many, many more various topics relating to astronomy, astrophysics, and celestial history. Some weeks also include special guests–stars we’ve had so far include Dianna Colman, President of the Yerkes Future Foundation, and Kyle Cudworth, an astrophysicist from UChicago who studied globular clusters and is a vetern user of the Yerkes Great Refractor. Make sure you are logged into YouTube so you can ask questions in the chat box! We like our show interactive and driven by audience questions.
Our 9th upcoming show is this Friday, June 19th, where we’ll be talking about everything sun-related in anticipation of an annular solar eclipse happening this Sunday in parts of Africa and Asia. Get ready for a stellar night, including a special tie-in with Yerkes Observatory history!
